2015 Tan and Tan Lawyers Cup

Dear readers

It was a beautiful day on 29 March 2015, the day that we had the 3rd annual Tan and Tan Lawyers Cup. Registrations began at 11 am but I had to go in earlier to set up for the tournament. Luckily Shen Ke, Gao, Susan and Dong were ahead of me at the club house. I owe them so much for making the tournament a success.

The turnout for the tournament was a total field of 48 players. This is the largest turnout for an Aus Chinese Golf Association golf day. We had to turn away a few players as we were concerned that the last group would not have enough daylight to finish the game.

We signed up several new members including Yi Xu, JIang Zu Ning, Vincent Teo, Charles Choi, Eric Wong, Roland Lau, Kwang Sim, Billy Leong, Duncan Hackman and Jimmy Kho and Ni Zheng

The membership is definitely growing.

The winners for the tournament were:

Longest Drive: Martin Wong
Nearest the pin: Vincent Teo
Ladies longest drive: Suzzi Shen

Mens Net 3rd:  Ricky Ren
Net 2nd: Shu Min Tan

Ladies net 2nd: Leonna Gu
Net Champion: Susan Zhang

The net men's champ was Ken Gao with an amazing Gross of 85 for a 24 handicap resulting in a net score of 62. Young Ken is a member of Mt Lawley GC and obviously knows his home course well.
Good on him, our rising star.

Dong Hong Gao was given the BB encouragement price for female coming back with a score of 123 playing off 45.

Ben Pan our Number 1 member playing in his first golf game came back with a score of 111 which was very good for a beginner. He won the Mens BB Encouragement award.

After the game, most of the players adjourned to Gold Leaf Chinese Restaurant for dinner and the prize giving.

We were treated to music by Andrew Chai who wowed us with Mandarin, Cantonese, and English songs.

New member Vincent Teo also serenaded us with some Mandarin songs which were thoroughly enjoyed by the members.

The biggest cheers goes to President Shen who serenaded his wife Jenny with a beautiful love song.

Videos of the music can be seen at:

This has been a great event. I am sure everyone loved the golf and companionship.

We had several guests including Joel Smales of Smales Jewellery.

Zhou from Shineton Property group was a guest who also enjoyed himself with Hu from BGC Contracting.

Joseph from Agrifresh also tried his hand at winning.

There were 4 guests players from the Perth Golf Network. They were Roy Daniels, Graham Guy, TJ Lim and Chris Pereira.

We also had a photographic competition with $1500 prize money sponsored by P and P Brothers namely Henry and Frank. Details of the winners will be posted soon.

I look forward to the next tournament.

Photos from the tournament will be updated soon.
